According to the video of Aquaponics by Kijani Grows. Aquaponics benefits the community because it uses nature and technology. Aquaponics is an example of biomimicry because it grows plants in the same way nature but it uses technology instead. Aquaponics uses lights that act as sunlight that the plants need to grow and water that also helps it grow, like when it would rain or people would water them. Aquaponics uses technology to grow plants. They need sunlight but instead it uses lights to replicate the sun. The fish poop acts as a natural fertilizer and the water also helps the plants grow but instead of only getting water for a while it gets light and water 24/7. What the technology does is it controls the water level so it won’t overflow and a pump brings the water with all the nutrients to the plants so they grow without anybody having to constantly water them and they control the amount of light that the plants will get. And since its planted in gravel it doesn’t need any soil because the roots grow straight down.
According to the video Aquaponics benefits us because we get fresh food faster. Because aquaponics gives the plants light and water almost 24/7 they can grow faster and t can feed people in a shorter amount of time then if it will grow on a farm. Aquaponics benefits us because plants grow twice as fast and that means that it can feed people and it’s healthier because in most farms they use pesticides and that can be dangerous to people’s health. Because aquaponics doesn’t use pesticides the food grows faster it also becomes much healthier for people
