american steel studios …. west oakland california.
amsteel has always fascinated me as it is a community of art, innovation and industry.
If you like making small things big then amsteel is the place for you.
For instance, see my favorite artist Karen’s little prototypes:
see some of Karen’s larger than life artwork from the prototypes:
A large metal flower vase welcomes you.
As do the alien guardians
A flowering plant made from metal ropes
Something familiar finally…a big rain water catchment system at amsteel. The fish and plants are going to love this.
Amsteel is an industrial environment and can be a safety hazaard, we are in Bay 5. I don’t recommend drop in visitors unless we are having an open day. Anyways, the management or community at amsteel will kick you out before I do.
Our bay … they come as an open space with lots of power.
So we have to build out our space the way we like. we are thinking of shipping container-based workshops and some prototype gardens as seen below.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank folks that incubated Kijani Grows in one way or another: Hyphae Design – big shoutout to Brent, tomorrow’s answer – shoutout to Monsa, OPR – shoutout to Mark & Audry and my good friends Phillip and Keba.
